Technical Details
- This high quality SCK-1 cleaning kit contains a dust-sticking bar and viscous cleaning paper.- The rubber bar head of the dust-sticking bar has viscidity convenient for sticking dust particles and oil residue. It can effectively clean DSLR optical sensors, optical lenses, and the dead angles of optical devices.
- The viscous cleaning paper is coated with non-shedding colloid material having viscidity higher than that of head of dust-sticking bar, and is used for removing residue stuck at the bottom of the rubber head of the dust stick.
- High quality, German design, to retrieve and remove the smallest dust particles from the most difficult and inaccessible areas.
- Specific instructions of how to use this sensitive dust-sticking device are included with the product.

Wow, what a difference in the "before" and "after" pics. Tool was easy to use and did a nice job cleaning the image sensor. An inexpensive fix well worth the money.

After researching the various methods available to clean a sensor I decided to go with this type for two reasons. First, my decision to go with an adhesive cleaning bar was heavily influenced by the fact that it is the same method used by Canon. Second, was the price, which you just can't beat with this kit.
Overall, the Eyelead kit looked straightforward and simple to use. I received the kit promptly and used it immediately. I would rate myself as very skilled when it comes to doing procedures like this. I only mention that because I have to admit that I was not prepared for one or two of the challenges I faced cleaning my Canon sensor for the first time.
The first thing that struck me as a significant challenge was the fact that the sensor was set very deeply into the camera body which made it difficult to get a good view of the sensor while using the tool. I also found it challenging to see exactly where to place the Eyelead tool particularly when it came to getting into the corners of the sensor. The area where the sensor is mounted is very small. (Interestingly, whenever you see the cleaning procedure being demonstrated online it looks like the sensor is close to the front of the camera and easily accessible. Not necessarily so for my Canon 40D.)
What I needed to make things easier were, more light, and a magnifying glass of some sort to allow me to see into the recesses and corners of the camera body and sensor area. I am now using one of those desk mount lights with a magnifying glass built into it. It helps tremendously since I need both hands free to clean the sensor. One hand to hold the camera and tilt it to see the sensor down in the body. And then the other hand to use the cleaning tool.
The second thing that sort of shocked me was that when I first put the cleaning tool on the sensor and then went to lift it off, it stuck to the sensor. Momentary panic! Then I remembered that this is an adhesive cleaning tool and it is supposed to be sticky in order to grab the dirt particles. Duh! I just wasn't prepared for how sticky it actually was. You don't just press the cleaning bar onto the sensor and lift it off, you press it on and almost have to peel or pull it off. Once I got used to the strength of the adhesive and the amount of slow steady force required to lift it off of the sensor, I was easily and confidently cleaning my sensor.
Despite the challenges of accessing the sensor and the brief time (a matter of seconds) it took to get used to the tool, I did manage to get my sensor cleaned in about five minutes or so. My sensor was particularly dirty and a before and after check showed a major improvement in cleanliness. The Eyelead kit worked very well and as advertised. The instructions were not exactly user friendly, as they were translated from another language, but I managed to get the overall idea from reading them. This is not a complicated procedure, however as is the case with most things, it helps to know what to expect. The kit comes with a very generous supply of cleaning sheets which I really appreciated.
I'm glad that I bought this kit. I feel like I chose an effective and very inexpensive way of cleaning my Canon 40D sensor. I feel comfortable recommending both this method of sensor cleaning and this cleaning tool to others.
